Hotel Leopoldo is is a classical Tuscan villa built in the early 20th century completely renovated. We’ll welcome you with all the comforts and services that a holiday class requires: you can reach the sea by foot, you can enjoy the fresh air that the park Marradi pinewood offers to its visitors. By our site you can admire the City of Art that you find around Castiglioncello.
You will find limpid waters and romantic corners along the wonderful promenade, rocky cliff and different little bays, stone and sand, mild climate and landscape with the same particular light that inspired the Macchiaioli painters. Castiglioncello has a cultural and historical tradition, from the Etruscans to Romans, from Medici to Macchiaioli painters in the second half of the 19 th century. Very important persons of cinema, art, politics and entertainment always spent their holidays here.
Our hotel, which we opened in June 1995, is located in the beautiful pine forest of the promontory, in a comfortable and quiet place ( 50 meters from the sea) away from the noise of traffic and the noises of night. But if you want you can reach the center of Castiglioncello by foot and there you can enjoy listening music, drinking cocktail, visiting art exhibitions in Castello Pasquini, attending music festival, or having fun at the discopub.
We are opened all the year, accommodating tourist, artists and celebrities, but also professionals who need a relaxing and functional stay.
Our rooms, furnished with taste and style typical of the Tuscan landscape, are all equipped with bathroom with shower, TV, refrigerator, telephone, air conditioning.

Rooms
All rooms have bathroom with shower, direct telephone, modem internet adsl (we have also a wireless lan adsl on the first floor, on ground floor, in the dining room and in the garden), tv set, minibar, air conditioning (from 14th of June to 8th of September), heating. We have different kind of rooms: single rooms, double rooms, triple rooms and some little suites. Our little suite is a perfect accommodation for a family of 4/5 persons: it is composed by
1) a double twin bedded room (tv set, telephone)
2) a bathroom with shower, a minibar, an adsl modem
3) a double or triple room (tv set, telephone, with or without sea view balcony)
In low season you can only reserve B&B. In full season you can reserve B&B or HALF BOARD with dinner. For lunch and dinner you will find at least 10 other different restaurants and some pizzerias, also in bathing establishments, near Hotel Leopoldd from 50 to 500 metres: we will suggest you all the best.

Leopoldo Hotel provides a nice garden where you may relax having your breakfast covered by the pines shadow or reading the Castiglioncello Festival program remaining for all the summer time and offers every day nice and interesting events.
It is also possible having a guide, to rent mountain – byke, riding school, sail, tennis and football courses.

Leopoldo Hotel is 20 Km far from Livorno, 35Km from Pisa and Volterra, 45 minutes from San Gimignano and Massa Marittima and 50 minutes from Florence.
In CASTIGLIONCELLO from May to September there are at least ten different bathing establishments from 60 to 500 metres, where you can rent deck chairs, sun beds, beach umbrellas. Best bay is BAIA DEL QUERCETANO: you will find Bagni Roma (www.bagniroma.it: offers special rates to our guests) and Bagni Italia (www.bagniitalia.it), with bar and restaurant. We suggest you also to go to “spiagge bianche” between Rosignano and Vada, at only 4 kilometres far from HOTEL LEOPOLDO: it is a wonderful public white sand beach for a tropical suntan, with a school of windsurf and kitesurf.
You will find a sailing school at only 80 metres from Hotel Leopoldo, a Cala de’ Medici tourist port in Rosignano Solvay is far only 2 km (www.calademedici.net): this port offers 650 berths (10% of which are reserved for transit), a naval shipyard, Yacht Club Cala de Medici (www.yccm.it), a large parking area, a village for commercial activity with bars and restaurants. A tennis court is far only 200 metres from HOTEL LEOPOLDO; you need only 3,5 km for a horse-riding school in Rosignano Solvay. Always in Rosignano you can visit Ego, a new fitness center with swimming pool: www.egoanimaecorpo.it.
Our Hotel was built to the beginning of the 20th century when the young Macchialioli painters spent their summer holydays in the Diego Martelli ‘ s home.
Till than the need to spend the summer holydays on the Etruscan Coast was more and more strong and Castiglioncello was considered the pearl of the Tirreno sea making the Flowered Coast an irresistible recall.
Pirandello and also other important guests were fascinated by the charming colours of the sea and of the maquis spending their time on the “Bagnetti” beach.
Thanks to the important Macchiaioli school the most interesting masterpieces of Giovanni Fattori, Odoardo Borrani, Telemaco Signorini, Persiani, Silvestro Lega, Giuseppe Abati have been painted in Castiglioncello at the Solferino residence or in the surroundings. It was for Castiglioncello an age rich of poets, artists, actors and politicians.
Vittorio Gassmann, Marcello Mastroianni, Alberto Sordi, Giovanni Spadolini, Enzo Trapani and others famous people enjoyed Castiglioncello since the beginning of the century till today.
